A new app called Lately Started on the App Store a few weeks ago, aiming at people with ADHD to help them arrive on time and rewarding them for it.
The service is designed to help users manage their travel plans by notifying them when it’s time to leave for a trip, sending 30 minutes, 10 minutes and 5 minutes before departure. It also contains direct activities on the iPhone and Apple Watch showing a count to leave.
To encourage timely departures, recently uses a four -level difficulty reward system.
The easiest level, “golden fish”, gives users of users 3 points to be at the beginning, 2 points to be in time, and 0 to be late, while other levels – “brown”, “grown” and “yoda” – make progressively less forgiving. For example, Yoda goes down 2 points to be late.
As users accumulate points, they flatten and unlock various virtual characters within the app that serve as achievement marks. While the reward may seem simple, it can provide users with a sense of progress and achievement.
It was recently created by Indie’s developer Erik Macinnis to address the challenges that individuals face with ADHD, especially related to time management.
“I’ve always been ‘late’ in my group of friends,” Macinnis Techcrunch told. “For many of us, our most difficult challenges to get out of time are the blindness of time and poor evaluation of time. Recently it addresses both of these problems by keeping the user constantly aware of when he leaves, and is gamble, so you get points when you come in time, which honestly feel good.”
While there are other similar applications – such as an Android app called Time to get away – Macinnis believes they are outdated. ADHD applications as Structured AND Decent are mainly for task management and do not specifically address the blindness of the time for travel.
During our test, we have recently found useful, but we want to provide timely ratings for travelers in large cities using public transport or bicying. Currently, the app only offers opportunities for driving or walking.
Despite this little limitation, we believe that the application can be successful among its target demography.
Individuals with ADHD often feel unmotivated, and specialists often suggest using a reward system to help with self-discipline. Another Gamified app, beamhas attracted attention to his point system. The self-care app encourages users to finish daily work at home or get involved in other healthy habits by rewarding those with drops that can be used to fix their virtual animal.
Macinnis revealed future plans for recently, which include a social feature that automatically notifies friends when users leave, when they are five minutes away, and when they arrive. An Android version is also part of the long -term road map.
It is recently available for free, but there is also a premium reconciliation ($ 3 per month or $ 10 a year) that offers characteristics such as personalization of difficulty levels and setting repeated trips.
